World of Sharr
Midonia claims much of the fertile center of Sharr, and produces enough wheat and other crops that it easily provides a significant trade surplus. The economic boost provided by this surplus affords the people of Midonia a very comfortable lifestyle, even for the relatively poor. Though significant centers of civilization are few and far between, most of the land taken up by sprawling farms and plantations, those that do exist do so as sprawling metropolises of trade and entertainment.
The Midonian people are hard workers, knowing that the crops they produce that season must last them almost a whole year. However, when the last of the grain is shipped off and sold, there is a convergence upon the cities of all the nearby farmers and their families, and a months long string of celebrations and events begin. The busy streets become packed and all of the best that the various taverns, playhouses, inns, and even the gambler’s dens have to offer are presented for the “Last Harvest Festival.” This is the largest party in all of Sharr, simultaneously occuring throughout the nation and lasting three whole weeks, and it is only the beginning.
